〜書・篆刻の視点から、移ろう光の構造へ〜

このシリーズは、書とは一見関係のない表現に見えるかもしれません。 しかし、その根底には、小さな石の中に文字を配置する“篆刻”の感覚が息づいています。 限られた方寸の中で均衡を探り、わずかな余白に意味を見出す思考が、このシリーズの構造へとつながっています。

【なぜ、箔なのか】 

尾形光琳が「紅白梅図屏風」で見せたように、銀箔を焼くことで生まれる移ろいの表現は、日本独自の美学の象徴です。 私は、時の経過とともに色が深まり、表情を変えていく「箔」という素材に、日本的な「侘び寂び」の精神を重ねています。 人工的には決して作り出せない、自然と時間が織りなす東洋的な光。その不完全で、唯一無二の輝きを追い求めることは、自身のルーツである日本的表現への飽くなき探求でもあります。

【なぜ、編むのか】 

私にとって、素材を編むという行為は、「時間の積み重ね」そのものです。

一つひとつのグリッドを埋めていく指先の動きは、過ぎ去る時間を確かな手触りとして記録していくプロセス。 積み重なった時間は層となり、やがて光を宿した作品へと姿を変えます。 編み上げられたグリッドの隙間に、静かな呼吸と、光の記憶が宿ることを願っています。

Grid Series: From the Perspectives of Calligraphy and Tenkoku to the Structure of Shifting Light

This series may appear, at first glance, unrelated to the art of calligraphy. However, its foundation is deeply rooted in the sensibility of Tenkoku—the ancient art of seal engraving, where characters are meticulously composed within the tiny confines of a stone. The discipline of seeking balance within a limited square and finding profound meaning in subtle margins leads naturally to the structure of this series.

[Why Foil?]
As Ogata Korin demonstrated in his masterpiece "Red and White Plum Blossoms," the expression of transience created by oxidizing silver foil is a symbol of Japan's unique aesthetic. I overlay the spirit of Wabi-sabi onto the medium of foil, which deepens in color and changes its expression over time. This Oriental light, woven by nature and time, can never be artificially replicated. Pursuing this imperfect, one-of-a-kind radiance is my lifelong exploration of the Japanese roots that define my work.

[Why Weave?]
For me, the act of weaving materials is the very embodiment of "accumulating time." The movement of my fingertips filling each grid is a process of recording the passage of time through a tangible sense of touch. These accumulated moments form layers, eventually transforming into a work that dwells within the light. It is my hope that a quiet breath and the memory of light will reside within the spaces of the woven grid.
